Description (French): Avec l'avènement du multipartisme au Rwanda en 1991 des divers journaux ont vu le jour dont certains étaient rallié aux partis naissants et d'autres au régime de l'AKAZU rallié au gouvernement actuel. Umurangi était un journal affilié au MDR PARMEHUTU l’un des parties s’opposant au gouvernement de Habyarimana Juvena. Umurangi changea sa ligne éditoriale et commença a suivre la ligne du MDR qui propageait les divisions ethnique comme celles de la MRND et du CDR. Umurangi Nº Spécial contenant 6 pages, a les grandes lignes suivantes:
-LA PAIX D’ARUSHA: le groupe des dirigeants des parties d’opposition suit toujours les pensés de Kinani.
-Je pense que quand tout redeviendra normal, ça sera trop tard.
-Twagiramungu en danger!
Description (English):The introduction of the multiparty system to Rwanda in 1991 resulted in the creation of a number of new publications. Some of these publications were allied with new parties and others with the AKAZU regime, which was itself allied with the MRND. Umurangi, one of the emerging publications of the time, was affiliated with the MDR Parmehutu, an opposition party of of the MRND and Habyarimana. Later, Umurangi changed its editorial slant and started to follow the MDR party line, which propagated ethnic divisions, just as the MRND and the CDR. Umurangi Issue 023 (7 pages) features the following stories:
-ARUSHA PEACE PROCESS: opposition parties leaders are still following Kinanis’ ideas..
-I think that when all will be normal, it will be too late.
